Raleigh, North Carolina – Road Trip 2014

Welcome to North Carolina! North Carolina has recently become my sister Jessica’s new home. She moved to Wake Forest last summer with her then fiance (now husband) Joewee. The main reason my mom and I decided to go on this road trip was to be there for my sisters first wedding dress fitting. Her dress fitting photos will be in a different blog post, but here are a few photos I took during my visit.

The photograph above was taken out the window not long after passing over the state line into North Carolina. My hands were basically glued to my camera the entire drive just in case we passed something like this along the way. I love how this small run down looking cottage is in the middle of a corn field with gloomy clouds above it setting the mood.

After my sisters dress fitting we headed to downtown Raleigh for dinner. While waiting for a table we saw this really cool little chocolate factory across the street and decided to check it out.

We had dinner here at “The Pit Authentic BBQ.” Apparently the Carolina’s are known for their BBQ sauce, so my sister wanted us to try some at her favorite rib place. I’m a huge lover of baby back ribs but I prefer mustard based BBQ sauce and it seems that the BBQ sauce here was vinegar based. My mom and sister enjoyed it but I’d pass on them next time.

The rest of the pictures in this blog were taken at Historic Yates Mill Park. We thought this place would make for some beautiful family portraits and decided to check it out. Unfortunately, we must of picked the hottest day of the summer to visit. It was around 98 degrees outside, so we ended up not staying for very long. The rest of our time in North Carolina was spent just visiting, so I didn’t take too many pictures. But, I make up for it on our next stop in beautiful Savannah, Georgia!
