This year I got to spend Valentines Day with my incredible boyfriend Sean. It was our first valentines day together and the entire day was perfect! In the morning he surprised me with two dozen roses, a balloon, chocolates and a surprise gift! The flowers were so beautiful, chocolates delicious and the surprise gift (that was wrapped with random sheets of tissue paper) was a camera backpack! We like to travel together and I always take my camera with us. Since the equipment is super heavy, I usually ask him to carry it for me in my camera purse. He feels silly carrying a purse around everywhere, so a backpack was on our needs list. He was so sweet to get it in my favorite color purple! I LOVE it, but I think he just put himself back in the same spot of carrying a girly bag around. Sorry babe, but thank you!
I surprised him with three gifts. One made, one practical, and one romantic. The made gift was red velvet sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting and sprinkles, cut in heart shapes. I made it from scratch from a recipe I found online. The practical gift I got him was a night stand caddy. He always empties out his pockets when he gets home an tosses it all on the night stand. I thought this would make a great gift. It looks more organized and things don’t roll off the table. The last surprise was a romantic one. I know many might call it cheesy, but if you are a hopeless romantic like me, you might find it sweet and romantic. I gave him the “key to my heart.” Figuratively and physically. After 10 years of knowing each other and 10 months of dating, I felt like this was the perfect time to give it to him. I got the heart key from “The Lonely Heart” on Etsy, as well as the ribbon custom made to say “you hold the key to my heart.” I then found the key box at hobby lobby and put the lonely heart business card that has the cute quote “every time i hug you i hold the whole world in my arms,” taped under the lid so he sees it when he opens it.
I also found him the perfect card at hallmark! Sean has been in love with the character Woody from the movie “Toy Story” since he was a little boy. His mother told me his bedroom as a child was covered in Toy Story memorabilia. So when I saw a Woody valentines day card, I just knew it was the one! I loved his card to me! He wrote some beautiful words inside that made my heart melt. After we opened our cards and gifts we got ready for our early dinner reservations at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. We had a delicious steak dinner and spent the rest of the evening cuddled up watching tv. It was the best valentines day I ever had.
