This is a photograph taken and shared by Sarah Hamm of her 101-year-old grandma Rosa Camfield holding her two-week old daughter Kaylee. After posting it she had no idea it would go viral and touch so many hearts across the world. What makes this photo even more precious, is the fact that Rosa passed away 2 weeks later. These stories show how priceless and valuable photography can be.

I have my own similar story that I mentioned at the bottom of my “about me” page. I took portraits of my grandparents three weeks before my grandmothers passing. Words can not describe how precious those photographs are to me. We never know what the next day will bring, or how long we or our loved ones have left here on earth. This is why I love being a photographer. I get to capture beautiful moments that will last forever and that will be cherished for generations to come. This little girl will never remember this moment, but when she is older she gets to look back at this photo and see the love her great grandmother had for her. How beautiful of a gift is that?
